Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday postponed its scheduled employees’ recognition award as it found that medals for the awarded employees were not made with 22 carat gold.
BB deputy governor SK Sur Chowdhury told reporters on Wednesday that the central bank had earlier asked the concerned expenditure management department (EMD) to make the medals comprising 12 gram gold of 22 carat.
But the EMD made the medals with 21 carat gold, he said.
Sur said, ‘We asked the EMD to investigate the matter why the medals were made with 21 carat gold.’
The central bank earlier took decision to provide the gold medals to its 6 officials for their extraordinary service in 2014.
The central bank also nominated 17 officials for
awarding silver medals in recognition of their job.
The central bank gives the awards every year to its officials to encourage them in their service.
