A former student of Dhaka University continued hunger strike for the third consecutive day on Monday on the university campus, demanding that the university’s Central Students Union polls should be held within December 20 17.
He also demanded that the university authorities should held DUCSU polls before the university’s registered graduate polls.
Walid Ashraf, who completed his master’s from DU Social Welfare department and a present student of the institute of modern languages, started the fast unto death programme on Saturday afternoon in front of the vice-chancellor’s house on the campus.
Ashraf said that he would continue his fast unto death programme till December 16 if the authorities concerned did not pay any heed to his demand within the stipulated time.
However, the university authorities were yet to contact him, he added.
Some students of the university have expressed their solidarity with Ashraf.
When contacted, university proctor Golam Rabbani said everyone had the right to express his opinion and the university administration was always careful to ensure a democratic environment on the campus.
The proctor also said that they would take necessary steps if Ashraf formally approached them with his demands.
