Poetry recitation evening held at Diponpur

Recitation artistes entertained the audience at a poetry recitation evening held at Diponpur book shop in capital’s Elephant Road on Friday.
Organised by Srabon Prokashoni, the programme featured recitation of poems of poet Abul Kashem by noted recitation artistes. A book of Abul Kashem’s latest poems titled ‘Andhokare Alo Ashe’ was also launched at the event.
Elocutionist Rupa Chakraborty recited three poems Andhokare Alo Ashe, Tumi Sob-e Jano and Beche Thakar Bipod at the programme.
Nazmul Ahsan recited a few poems inducing Rumal Uriye Tumi and Smritir Sohor. Among others, Aniket Rajesh, Masum Azizul Bashar and Shamim Ahsan also recited poems at the event.
Professor of English department of Dhaka University Kashinath Roy, publisher of the book Robin Ahsan and Rupa Chakraborty talked about life and works of poet Abul Kashem.
The poet, who was also present on the occasion, thanked the organisers.
Abul Kashem, born on July 1, 1944 at Nurpur in Pabna, emerged as a poet in the ‘60s. His notable poetry collections include Panir Deshe Panir Trishna, Sit Sandhyar Rangdhanu, Nibase Charpashe and Alo Andhokare.
