10 young poets honoured

A group of ten up and coming poets were honoured at a programme held at Diponpur book shop in capital’s New Elephant Road on Friday.
A media agency Ra’dia Inc. and literary organisation Kotha Kobita Abritti jointly organised the awards ceremony. Up-and-coming poets Probal Kumar Das, Bappi Bhushan, Mohana, James Anjus, Mahbub Rahman, Ujjwal Bain, Ashik Milton Sarkar, Arif Shamsul, Masuma Runa and Aniket Rajesh received awards at the programme.
The poets took part at a poetry competition titled ‘Kobitar Khoje’ for young poet’s and submitted self-penned poems. A jury board selected the best ten poems.
Renowned poet Mohammad Nurul Huda handed over crests and certificates to the awardees as the chief guest. Recitation artiste professor Rupa Chakraborty and editor of literary magazine Jaldhi poet Nahida Ashrafi attended the programme as special guests.
About the initiative, noted recitation artist and coordinator of Kobitar Khoje Nazmul Ahsan told New Age that the competition aimed at making youths of the country interested in Bengali literature and culture.
