A three-day international exhibition of leather technologies titled ‘LEATHERTECH Bangladesh 2017’ will begin on November 16 at the International Convention City, Bashundara in the capital with the aim of bringing the latest technologies under one roof for the local manufacturers.
Nearly 250 exhibitors from 15 countries, including India and China, will take part in the exhibition to showcase the technologies and machinery for tanning leather, manufacturing footwear and leather goods, dyes and chemicals, accessories and allied products.
Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed is expected to inaugurate the event.
‘In terms of economic value, the leather sector has valuable contribution and the sector is eyeing for a $5 billion export by 2021,’ Md Saiful Islam, president of the Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Bangladesh, said at a press conference held in a city hotel on Sunday.
Nanda Gopal K, director of ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, said that the international fair was very important for the growth of the industrial sector of Bangladesh.
ASK Trade & Exhibitions Pvt Ltd organised the event with the support of LFMEAB, Centre of Excellence for leather Skill Bangladesh Ltd, Bangladesh Finished Leather, Leather goods & Footwear Exporter Association and Bangladesh Tanners Association.
