Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of the ruling Awami League, expelled one of its local leader on Friday night, hours after he was arrested along with arms and ammunition in Jessore.
Hossain Isad, organising secretary of Shaheed Mashiur Rahman Hall unit BCL at Jessore University of Science and Technology, was expelled from the organisation as he violated its disciplinary rules, read a press release signed by BCL president Saifur Rahman Sohag and its general secretary SM Jakir Hossain.
Shamim Hasan, general secretary of JUST unit BCL, also confirmed the news of expulsion.
Isad, a fourth-year student of JUST, was arrested by Detective Branch of police along with a pistol, four bullets and a magazine on the university campus on Friday afternoon, said Salauddin Shikder, additional superintendent of police in Jessore.
A case was filed against him with Kotwali police station in this connection.
