Traffic on Chittagong-Khagrachhari road remained suspended for 5 hours as some Juba League leaders and activists of Fatikchhari upazila on Friday blocked different points of the road protesting at the arrest of a fellow.
Jakir Hossain Mahmud, officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari Police Station, said police arrested a Juba League activist Emaj Uddin Prokash Jam, 30, with two rounds of bullets from his house on Thursday night.
Protesting against the arrest, hundreds of leaders and activists of the party put up barricade at different points from Najirhat Jhonkar intersection to Bibir Hat bus stand in the upazila headquarters around 7:00am, said the OC.
They also burned tire on the road, halting traffic that caused sufferings to the passengers.
Traffic on the road resumed around 1:00pm after a meeting between police and local Awami League and Juba League leaders.
