Dhaka Medical College will celebrate its 72nd founding anniversary today in a befitting manner.
To mark the day, Dhaka Medical College Alumni Trust will organise a daylong programme at Dr Milon Auditorium on the college campus at 11:00am, said a press release.
Health and family welfare minister Mohammad Nasim will inaugurate the programme as the chief guest. DMC Alumni Trust president Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin will preside over the function.
Dhaka Medical College hospital has been able to earn world attention with remarkable successes like country’s first bone marrow transplant, separating conjuring twins, heal replacement, controlling tree-man diseases. Dhaka Medical College, a medical college and hospital, is located in Dhaka which is situated at Bakshibazar in old town of Dhaka, close to the University of Dhaka and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
After beginning the journey, Dhaka Medical College established a new era in the history of medical education in Bangladesh. The original idea for the establishment of a medical college in Dhaka was placed to the British government in 1939 but shelved because of World War II.
After the war, a committee was formed in 1945 and on recommendation of the committee; Dhaka Medical College started its glorious journey on July 10 in 1946.
