Convener of the Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal faction and freedom fighter AFM Mahbubul Haque died in Canada on Friday.
He was 69.
Mahbubul Haque had been critically ill as he suffered a brain haemorrhage on September 26.
A party press release, signed by the party central leader, Mahinuddin Chowdhury Liton, said Mahbubul died in a hospital in Ottawa around 10:15am (Bangladesh time).
He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Mahbubul had been living in Canada with his family for more than 10 years.
The party leaders expressed deep shock at the death of the party convener.
