The third edition of Dhaka International Folk Fest will commence at Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital from today.
Orgnaised by Sun Communications, the three-day music extravaganza will feature performances by around a hundred artistes from eight countries.
The opening day of the festival will feature performances by popular Indian singer Papon, Brazilian singer Mauricio Tizumba, Tibetan singer Tenzin Choegyal, besides local singer Fakir Sahabuddin and young artistes of Bauliana.
The gates of the venue will be open from 5pm. The event will continue till midnight.
The next two days of the festival will feature performances by a number of local and foreign folk singers.
Among others, local singers Shahjahan Munshi, Arif Dewan, Shahnaj Beli, Shah Alam Sarkar and Aleya Begum and foreign singers Basudev Baul and Nooran Sisters from India, Grammy-winning Tinariwen band from Mali, Mekaal Hasan Band from Pakistan, folk band Kutumba from Nepal and Rastak from Iran are scheduled to perform at the festival.
