The National Board of Revenue will honour 84 families across the country recognising them as ‘Kar Bahadur’ families for paying income tax a for long time by all members of those families.
The revenue board has already selected the families—16 from Dhaka, eight from Chittagong and one from each district, except Rangamati and Khagrachari, for the award for the fiscal year 2016-2017.
No families paying income tax for long time were found for the award in Rangamati and Khagrachari districts.
NBR chairman Md Nojibur Rahman on Wednesday at the opening ceremony of the weeklong income tax fair said that the families would be honoured with crests and certificates at a function to be held on November 8 in Dhaka.
The tax authority took the initiative in line with the announcement of finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in his budget speech in which he said that the families would be declared as Kar Bahadur (tax champion) if all members of the families pay tax for long time.
Officials said that they had considered the amount of paid tax for selecting the families in Dhaka and Chittagong and where more than one family were found in other districts.
The finance minister has already approved a summery containing the list of the families, they said.
The crest and certificates will be issued in the names of the heads of the selected families, they added.
