Poets and recitation artistes recalled late eminent poet Shamsur Rahman through poetry recitation at a programme held at Rabindra Chattar of Bangla Academy on Saturday.
Jatiya Kobita Parishad organised the event marking Shamsur Rahman’s 89th birth anniversary, which was observed on October 23.
Poets, recitation artistes and singers presented popular poems and songs penned by Shamsur Rahman at the programme. Noted recitation artiste Mahidul Islam recited Shamsur Rahman’s poem Abhisap Dicchi, while Tamanna Sarwar Nipa and Laila Afroz recited Rahman’s timeless poems Swadhinata Tumi and Utbhat Uter Pithe Cholchhe Desh, respectively.
Poet Aslam Sunny and Rabindra Gope recited self-penned poems as a tribute to Shamsur Rahman. Rabiondra Gope recited the poem Shamsur Rahman and Aslam Sunny recited Ei Muhurter Kabita on the occasion.
Noted singer Bulbul Mahlanbish sang Shamsur Rahman’s songs Kew Ki Ekhon Ei Abelay and Shunya Daale.
The programme included a discussion where the speakers spoke about life and works of poet Shamsur Rahman. Among others, president of the JKP Muhammad Samad, noted poet Rabiul Hossain, cultural personality Nasiruddin Yousuff, general secretary of the JKP Tarik Sujat, Shamsur Rahman’s daughter-in-law Tia Rahman and two granddaughters Naina and Dipita Rahman were present of the occasion.
