Police cordon off ‘extremist den’ in Jessore

Police cordoned off a house at Birampur Pagladah in the suburb of Jessore town on Monday night suspecting it to be a extremist hideout.
Tipped off that the militants were staying inside, the law enforcers surrounded the house near Birampur-Pagladah connecting bridge around 7:30pm, said officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station ATM Ajmal Huda.
Over 100 law enforcers, including members of Detective Branch of police, Special Weapons And Tactics and bomb disposal unit, joined the drive, led by superintendent of Jessore police Anisur Rahman.
The SP told reporters at the spot that they cordoned off the house suspecting that extremists are staying inside.
Citing neighbours, the OC said the house is owned by Mozaffar Ahmed, imam of old hostel mosque of Govt MM College situated old Kasba area of the town.
