Missing student’s body recovered from Buriganga River

Police recovered the body of a 17-year old college student from the River Buriganga in Mirerbagh area of Dakkhin Keraniganj on the outskirts of Dhaka Monday afternoon, a day after he went missing.
The deceased was identified as Alauddin Hossain Ifat, son of Kashem Shikder, of Aminpara of Dakkhin Keraniganj. He was a student of class XI of Salimullah College in the capital.
Hasnabad river police outpost in-charge Md Rabiul Islam, quoting the victim’s family members, said Alauddin went out of his residence for his college Sunday morning and he did not return home.
His family members searched every possible place and later, his father lodged a general diary with Dakkhin Keraniganj police station Monday morning, Rabiul said.
On Monday, locals saw the body of a teenage boy floating on the River Buriganga around 1:00pm and informed police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The body had injury mark in his right hand, the police said.
The reason of his death will be ascertained after getting the post mortem examination report, the police added.
