Eminent filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel’s films Chitra Nadir Parey, Lalsalu and Jibandhuli are going to be screened at two
festivals in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Tanvir Mokammel, who flew to Tashkent on Sunday, will also inaugurate the Bishkek festival.
Chitra Nadir Parey (1998), starring Momtajuddin Ahmed, Afsana Mimi, Rowshan Jamil, Tauquir Ahmed, Sumita Devi and others, is a film which revolves around a Hindu family in the then East
Lalsalu (2001), is based on Syed Waliullah’s famous novel with the same title, features religious hypocrisy in rural Bangladesh. The film stars Raisul Islam Asad, Munira Yusuf Memi, Chandni, Aly Zaker, Rowshan Jamil, Amirul Haque Chowdhury and others.
Jibandhuli is Mokammel’s most recent film, released in 2014. The film features the struggles and pains of a low-caste Hindu drummer during the liberation war.
Jibandhuli stars Shatabdi Wadud, Ramendu Majumder, Tabibul Islam Babu, Wahida Mallik Joly, Chittralekha Guha, Joytika Joyti and others.
