Top-seed Katie Lafrance of USA made a shock exit from the Walton 30th Bangladesh ITF Junior Tennis Championships when she lost to India’s Muskan Gupta in the girls’ quarter-final singles match in Dhaka on Thursday.
Lafrance took the tournament by a storm when she arrived here by a chartered plane and was always attended by her personal bodyguards.
Lafrance’s father Stephen, a real-estate businessman in USA, who accompanied her only child alongside his wife Wendy, earlier told reporters that they hired the plane to avoid travel complicacies.
Before arriving in Dhaka, Lafrance also participated in different tournaments in Thailand, Malaysia and Taipei, which her father described as one of the main reasons for them to hire the private aircraft.
Sixth seed Muskan earlier eliminated Raina Lal the daughter of former Davis Cup player Dipu Lal, in the second round of the tournament.
Born and raised in USA, Raina was also a big attraction in the tournament.
