Artist Reza Asad Al Huda Anupam presents his emotions related to the surroundings and sweet memoirs through abstract paintings at his ongoing solo show at La Galerie, Alliance Française de Dhaka.
In some of the paintings, the artist depicts wonderful beauty of the rural nature.
The show, Chronicle of Existence, which began on September 22, features 24 abstract paintings done with mixed media and acrylic medium.
‘I always moved by the wonderful distributions of colours prevalent in nature and try to capture them in my works,’ Anupam said.
One of the displayed paintings titled ‘Landscape 03’ depicts the spectacular beauty of a mustard field of a rural area. On the yellow background, he paints dark-coloured mature mustard and also some red geometrical forms. ‘While travelling in the countryside, I saw a mustard field and I was so impressed by the beauty of the field that I thought to paint it on my abstract painting,’ Anupam said.
The artist also has a passion for antiques and recollecting memories of people and places. Therefore, he draws textures on the surfaces of the old walls. ‘Even the walls have so many stories to tell and as an artist, all I want is to transport those stories on my canvases,’ he said.
A teacher at the Department of Graphic Design of Dhaka University, Anupam, who won Honorable Mention at the Asian Art Biennale in--, said Chronicle of Existence is his first solo show.
‘Professionally I’m a graphic designer but painting is my passion. I participated in numerous group exhibitions but I took time for the first solo,’ he said.
The show will remain open till October 6.
