Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday urged the government to carry out strong diplomatic effort to check applying of veto power by Russia and China on Rohingya issue in the United Nations Security Council.
The secretary general came up with the remarks while talking to journalists at Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar.
‘Not only our diplomatic process has to continue on Rohingya issue but has to strengthen. So that China, Russia can stop exercise their veto,’ Fakhrul said adding so that all could stand beside ill-fated Rohingyas.
He said BNP did not say about permanent stay of Rohingya refugees but to give them shelter temporarily on humanitarian grounds.
At the same time, the government definitely has to make arrangement quickly for return of Rohingyas to their own homeland in Myanmar with honor and citizenship.
Earlier, Falhrul handed over two truckloads of relief for Rohingya to army at Ukhia College Math.
Major Rafiq received the relief materials.
