Satkhira Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Rafizul Islam has informed the Supreme Court that the police withdrew his gunman after he submitted a judicial probe report finding the involvement of police officers in the disappearance of homeopathic physician Sheikh
Mokhlesur Rahman Jonny from Satkhira.
The CJM also informed the Supreme Court that after he submitted the report police visited his home in Jhenaidah to inquire about him and his family members.
He also informed the Supreme Court that Jhenaidah police asked his elder brother Hafizul Islam to produce his educational certificates and testimonials from the local union parishad chairman and mayor.
The police also inquired whether or not the CJM was associated with political activities during his student days and at which hall of Dhaka University in which he resided with the room number.
The CJM informed the Supreme Court that the development made him and his family members insecure.
He also informed the Supreme Court that despite repeated requests Satkhira police superintendent Md Altaf Hossain provided no new gunman for his security.
Following directive issued on May 9 from the High Court Division CJM Rafizul Islam assigned senior judicial magistrate Habibullah Mahmud to find out the whereabouts of Sheikh Mokhles from the custody of Satkhira police station.
On June 29, CJM Rafiz submitted magistrate Habibullah’s inquiry report in the High Court Division.
The physician disappeared when Satkhira police station’s officer-in-charge was Emdadul Huq Sheikh and now he is the OC of Jhenaidah Sadar police station.
The judicial probe report also found the involvement of Satkhira SP Altaf Hossain and sub-inspector Himel Hossain with the disappearance.
Altaf Hossain is still SP of Satkhira while Himel Hossain has been transferred to the Kotwali police station in Jessore.
The judicial probe also found the involvement of higher police officials with the disappearance of doctor Mokhles.
Doctor Mokhles remained traceless since he was arrested at the Satkhira New Market by a police team led by SI Himel at 9 PM on August 4, 2016.
As Mokhles lived near the New Market he had gone there to buy medicines for his ailing father.
