Police on Tuesday filed charge sheet against the only accused, Badrul Alam, in the case filed in connection with the machete attack on Sylhet Government Women’s College student Khadiza Akter Nargis.
Investigation officer in the case, Harun-Ur Rashid, also a sub-inspector of Shah Paran police station, submitted the charge sheet to the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate Kazi Abdul Hannan, one month and five days after the incident, the court sources said.
Senior assistant general secretary of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League Badrul Alam hacked Khadiza and critically injured her on October 3.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner (prosecution) Abdul Ahad told New Age that the IO also deposited three video footages of the incident, the machete used in the attack and the blood stained dress of the victim to the court as evidence.
‘The court would hold a hearing on the charge sheet on the next date, November 15,’ the prosecution officer, Abdul Ahad, said.
When contacted, IO Harun-Ur Rashid told New Age that the authenticity of Badrul’s claim of love affair with Khadiza could not be proved.
Badrul, also a fourth year economics student, attacked Khadiza, a second year bachelor student of SGWC, when she came out of her examination centre at MC College in the city.
