Woman hacked dead ‘by son’ at Benapole

A woman was hacked to death allegedly by her son at village Tutkhali of Benapole under Sharsha upazila in Jessore over family dispute on Thursday morning.

Locals said Bappi Rahman, 19, son of Masudur Rahman, hacked his mother Ayra Kahun, 40, indiscriminately around 7:30am, leaving her dead on the spot.

On information, members of Border Guard Bangladesh rushed to the spot and detained the alleged killer.

Later, police recovered the body of Ayra Khatun and sent it to Jessore Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, said Alamgir Hossain, officer- in- charge of Benapole port police station.

Police also took Bappi into custody and process was underway to file a murder case, he added.
