Sports writer and member of Bangladesh Sports Press Association Jahangir Alam died of cardiac arrest at a city hospital on Wednesday. He was 41.
He left behind his wife, a daughter, a son and host of relatives to mourn his death.
Jahangir, who was diagnosed with cancer last year, felt sick on Tuesday night and was rushed to the Popular Hospital in Dhanmondi, where he breathed his last.
Jahangir, a popular face in local sports journalism, was working in the Dhaka Bank before his death.
He worked as a journalist in Daily Inqilab before switching his career to banking. He was a regular writer in fortnightly Krira Jagat magazine.
He was buried at Mugda graveyard after his namaj-e-janaja at Dokkhin Mugda Madrasa Mosque in the capital.
BSPA expressed its deep shock and condolences at his sudden death.
