Land phone connections of around 800 subscribers of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited in the city’s Gulshan area got disconnected as a telephone cabinet of the entity caught fire on Monday.
A press release of the BTCL issued on Wednesday in this regard said that the fire that broke out on Monday gutted cabinet number-12 of BTCL’s Gulshan exchange.
The reason of the fire, however, is yet to be known, BTCL director Mir Mohammed Morshed told New Age on Wednesday.
The state-owned entity has initiated a move to restore the connections of the land phones, the BTCL press release said. Connections of the land phones are expected to be functional within 10-12 days, it said.
Meanwhile, another 72 land phone connections of the BTCL in Gazipur also got disconnected due to underground drilling for the government’s ongoing development work, the BTCL press release also said.
