Eight bodies recovered as boats carrying Rohingyas sink in Naf

At least eight bodies, including five children and two women, of ethnic minority Rohingya of Myanmar were recovered from the River Naf at Shah Parir Dwip point of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.

At least 42 Rohingyas remained missing while 10 others were rescued as two boats carrying them capsized in the river.

Md Main Uddin, officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station, confirmed the matter.

A boat capsized at Shah Parir Dwip point early Wednesday and another boat sank at Nayapara around 11:00pm on Tuesday. 

Locals spotted the bodies at different points of the river.
