Recently demised legendary actor Abdur Razzak and eminent singer Abdul Jabbar were recalled at a programme held at the seminar room of the Central Public Library on Monday.
Cultural organisation Shilpito organised the programme to commemorate Abdur Razzak who died on August 21 at the age of 76 and eminent singer Abdul Jabbar who died on 30 August at the age of 79.
Eminent lyricist Mohammad Rafiquzzaman was present at the programme as the chief guest. Among others, cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam, artiste of wartime radio station Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra Manoranjan Ghosal, noted scientist Dr Ajay Roy, poet Nasir Ahmed and Tagore singer Bulbul Mahlanbish were present on the occasion.
The speakers at the programme said that both Razzak and Jabbar contributed greatly to the local film scene and both the artistes will continue to live on in the hearts of film lovers through their works.
They said that Razzak’s films including Jiban Theke Niya, Abirvab, Rangbaj, and many others will keep the memories of the actor alive forever. They also added that Abdul Jabbar’s songs including Salam Salam Hajar Salam, Ore Neel Dariya, Pich Dhala Ei Poth and others will continue to inspire future generations.
