The government is planning to introduce electric train service from Naryanganj to Joydevpur via Dhaka.
Railways minister Mazibul Haque said this in parliament on Tuesday, informing that a proposal for conducting a feasibility study to this end was underway.
A draft survey project titled ‘Feasibility survey for introducing electric traction from Narayanganj to Joydevpur via Dhaka (including construction of overhead catenary and sub-stations) was sent to the Planning Commission on June 11, 2017, said the railways minister replying to a scripted question from treasury bench member Didarul Alam (Chittagong-4).
Steps would be taken to introduce electric train from Narayanganj to Joydevpur via Dhaka in the light of the findings of the survey to be conducted to this end, the minister said.
Mazibul Haque said that a survey project was first sent to Planning Commission on December 8, 2015 for introducing electric train from Narayanganj to Chittagong via Dhaka.
