Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Miza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Tuesday took a swipe at government for its failure to condemn the genocide in Myanmar at the Parliament.

Jatiya Sangsad on Monday night unanimously adopted a resolution urging the international community, including the United Nations, to mount strong diplomatic pressure on Myanmar government to take back Rohingya people.

‘You have passed a resolution saying that pressure would be created on Myanmar to take back the Rohingyas. But you did not condemn the genocide and ethnic cleansing, which the entire world is condemning,’ Fakhrul said, addressing a discussion programme of Jubodal, the youth front of his party, at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.

Fakhrul also criticised the government for proposing a joint operation with Myanmar force and BGB.

‘Operation against whom? Those who are the victim of killing, rape, arson? And BGB would be part of that operation? It is unacceptable,’ he said.
