BSF lynches Bangladeshi in Lalmonirhat border

India’s Border Security Force allegedly tortured a Bangladesh citizen to death at Burimari border of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat early Saturday.

The victim was identified as Sohel Ahmed, 29, son of Mohsin Ali, a resident of village Islampur under the upazila.

A group of 10 to 12 men including Sohel went to the border area to bring cattle heads early today, said Lieutenant Colonel Golam Morshed, commanding officer of BGB battalion-15 in Lalmonirhat.

Members of 100 BSF Chengrabandha camp under Cooch Behar of West Bengal chased them and caught Sohel around 5:00am while others managed to flee the scene, he said.

The BSF personnel carried out torture on Sohel and left him dead on the border. 

BGB members recovered the body around 6:30am, the BGB official added.
