Finance minister AMA Muhith on Saturday blamed the bankers for the non-performing loan that is still at horrendous stage.
The bankers always tried to keep the clients in their grips, he said during a discussion in the capital.
Schedule for providing loan has not maintained properly, he said
He also said the bankers have not considered about the working capital after providing loan to the clients for implementation of the projects.
The finance minister said the growing NPL finally led to capital adequacy of the state owned banks.
He noted that the government has been facing criticism because of recapitalisation of the banks from the budget.
But the recapitalisation is essential to save the banks, he said.
The daylong discussion has been organised by the Financial Institutions Division to review the challenges the state owned banks are facing.
