Sylhet Agricultural University authorities have organised a two-day programme that began on Saturday, marking the institution’s 10th founding anniversary.
The programme began with a colourful procession in the morning.
The university students, teachers, officials and employees, led by the vice-chancellor, Golam Shahi Alam, brought out the procession in front of the Central Shaheed Minar at Chowhatta in the city.
They reached the campus at Baluchar parading different city roads. Later, the VC formally inaugurated the programme in front of the administrative building on the campus through cutting a cake.
In his inaugural speech, the VC sought cooperation of all quarters to continue the progress of the university.
Among others, SAU register Md Badrul Islam, student affair advisor Matiar Rahman Hawlader, proctor Mrityunjoy Biswas, and deans and officials of different faculties, attended the programme.
The two-day programme included photography exhibition, wall magazine exhibition, group dance performances, sports events, prize giving ceremony, and a concert of popular music band Shironamhin.
SAU started its journey on November 2 in 2006 with three departments and some 100 students.
Now, around 2,000 students are studying at 37 departments under six faculties of the institution.
