Anti-Corruption Commission chairman Iqbal Mahmood on Sunday said that government officials were allegedly involved in the process of grabbing government land in Gazipur.
‘You people [government officials] should work to protect government’s land. ACC would take action against those who are involved in land grabbing and helping land grabbers,’ he said addressing a views exchange meeting with the district administration officials in Gazipur.
He said that the commission had filed cases against some government officials of Gazipur for their alleged link with land grabbers.
Alerting the government officials, he asked them not to negotiate with the land grabbers, an ACC press release said.
He also asked police personnel not to give threat to people who came to police after being victimised by corrupt people. ‘ACC will not keep silent if the government officials will not provide service to the people properly,’ he added.
Gazipur deputy commissioner Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir presided over the meeting while other top officials of the district were present.
