In a series of overnight drives, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested six suspected drug traders and seized 2.25 kilograms of cocaine from different places in Khulna.
The arrested were Md Sohel Rana, Bikash Chandra Biswas, SM Ershad Hossain, Md Arifur Rahman Sagir, Bikash Chandra Mondal and Fazlur Rahman Fakir, RAB officials said. Md Arifur Rahman Sagir was identified as the owner of a sea-food processing plant in Khulna, RAB sources said
‘We began the drive around 10:00pm on Friday and ended it Saturday morning,’ said senior assistant superintendent of police Utpal Kumar Roy, of RAB-6 in Khulna, who led the drive.
He said that they, on information, conducted the drive in Moylapota area and arrested Sohel Rana along with 250 grams of cocaine. His accomplices managed to flee.
Later, the RAB team arrested Arifur Rahman Sagir from his residence at Gagon Babu Road in the city based on information provided by Rana.
He said that they later conducted raids at several other places in the city and its outskirts and arrested four others and seized another 2 kilograms of cocaine from them.
