Bangladesh Premier League outfit Brothers Union has decided to move on without their Italian coach Giovanni Scanu, who went for a lengthy leave much to the chagrin of the club officials.
Team’s assistant coach Arifur Rahman Pannu will temporarily take the charge of head coach in the absence of Scanu, said club manager Amer Khan on Saturday.
Pannu will be the third coach to take over the charge of Brothers head coach in the season after Indian Subrata Bhattacharjee Jr and Scanu.
Subrata was shown the door after a disappointing performance in the Federation Cup when the club officials were not happy with his tactical acumen.
Scanu, who had replaced Subrata before the league, guided the team to two consecutive goalless draws in their first two games of the season before he left the country abruptly for Germany to be with his ailing mother.
‘Scanu told the club that he needed at least three to four more weeks to take care of his mother, who had a surgery recently,’ said Amer Khan.
‘The club is reluctant to allow him [Scanu] abroad for such a long time and hence it was looking to replace him with the assistant coach [Arifur Rahman] for the time being,’ he said.
