Jewellers cut gold prices

Jewellers have increased the prices of gold by up to Tk 1,516 per bhori with effect from today (Sunday) because of price hike of the precious metal in the international markets.
Bangladesh Jewellers Association on Saturday announced the new rate of gold after the previous hike of the price two weeks ago.
According to the announcement of BAJUS, a bhori (11.66 grams) of 22-karat gold has been increased to Tk 48,639, while a bhori of 21-karat gold to Tk 46,481 and a bhori of 18-karat gold to Tk 40,824.
The price of traditional gold has been hiked to Tk 26,244 per bhori.
The price of silver, however, remained unchanged.
The price of gold was last hiked on July 28 this year by Tk 1,341 a bhori.
Earlier, jewellers had increased the prices of gold twice in the month of January and February this year.
Later on, the prices of the metal had been decreased in the month of May.
