Recitation troupe Muktadhara observed Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore’s 76th death anniversary through a recitation programme on Friday at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library.
Rabindranath Tagore’s death anniversary was observed on August 6 but the troupe had to postpone its programme due to lack of available venues, informed the troupe members.
The troupe presented a compilation of three verse plays by Tagore at the programme. The selected plays were Gandharir Abedon, Patita and Biday Abhishap. All three plays are based on stories from the epics Mahabharata and Ramayana.
Under the direction of M Siddiqur Rahman Parvez Muktadhara artistes Ayon Tarafdar, Shafi Islam Usha, Sabrina Akter, Ridwan Khalid, Iftekhar Alam, Sadnan Asif and Tanzina Yasmin Prova presented Gandharir Abedan, which features the story of Gandhari, wife of Dritarashtra, from Mahabharata.
The other two productions Patita and Biday Abhishap featured two performers each. Rabiya Sultana Panna and Shakib Shikder performed Patita, while Tahera Afroz Laila and Iftekhar Alam presented Biday Abhishap.
Patita features story from the Ramayana, while Biday Abhishap features a story from Mahabharata.
