Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said that Awami League never came to power through the backdoors.
In response to BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s claim that the Awami League was out to come in power again through backdoors, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said the BNP was born using the guns and it came in power several times through backdoors.
In 2001, BNP came in power through a controversial election through conspiracy, Quader alleged.
He was addressing at the students’ rally at Central Shaheed Minar to mark 42nd death anniversary of the founding president of the country Sheikh Mujibur Rahman organized by the Dhaka City Chhatra League north and south.
‘The BNP had started fresh conspiracy after disclosure of the full verdict of the 16th amendment of the constitution by the Appelate Division of the Supreme Court,’ Quader said
He called on the Chhatra League leaders and activists to remain alert to foil the conspiracies of the BNP to topple the Awami League led government.
Quader also called on the Chhatra League leaders and activists to work to uphold the past glory of the organisation and not to involve any activity that could defame it.
Chaired by president of Dhaka City north, Syed Mizanur Rahman, president of the central unit of the Chhatra League, Saifur Rahman Sohag, general secretary SM Jakir Hossain and others spoke at the rally.
