Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s much-talked-about film Doob has finally got a release date.
Abdul Aziz, owner of the production house of the film Jazz Multimedia, informed the press on Wednesday morning that the film has received censor certificate on the same day and the producers were planning to release the film on November 3. He also added that they have plans to release the film in different regions of India.
The censor board did not give clearance to Doob, which has jointly been produced by Jazz Multimedia and Kolkata-based Eskay Movies, after late writer Humayun Ahmed’s widow Meher Afroz Shaon complained to censor board that Doob is a biopic of Humayun Ahmed and Farooki did not take permission for making it in last February. Farooki, however, claimed several times that Doob is not a biopic but a fiction.
Meanwhile, Doob won the Kommersant Jury Prize at the 39th Moscow International Film Festival, where the film also competed in the main competition. Besides, Doob participated in the main competition round of the Shanghai International Film Festival 2017, which was held from June 17 to June 25.
Eminent Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan and actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha have played lead characters in the film.
‘It is a big day for Doob and I would like to thank all the cast and crew members of the film for their hard work and patience. I hope the audience would find the film entertaining,’ said Farooki.
