Students of drawing and painting department of Dhaka University are displaying their artworks at an annual art exhibition underway at Zainul Gallery 1 and 2 of the Faculty of Fine Art.
The exhibition features 72 paintings by 60 fine arts students who are studying BFA and MFA at the faculty. Nine of the 60 students have received awards for their displayed artworks.
Faizur Rahman has received Best Experimental Work award, Rezaul Karim has bagged Anowarul Karim award, Rakibul Anowar has received Kazi Abdul Baset Memorial award, Tariqul Islam has received award for Best Oil Painting, Shahana Mostafa was awarded Delowar Hossain Smrity Puruskar, Saikat Sarkar has received award for Best Watercolour Medium, Upen Tegring has received Mahbubul Amin Memorial Award, Sourav Dhar has bagged award for Best Pencil Sketch and Nazmul Hakim Khan was awarded Shahid Shahnewaz Memorial Award.
Nazmul Hakim Khan, a student of BFA second year, is displaying his pencil sketch at the exhibition. The detailed sketch depicts ferns and fauna growing on shattered pieces of pottery.
BFA 4th year student Shahana Mostafa won award for his displayed oil painting. The artist has merged three separate paintings into a single frame. The paintings depict gardens with large green trees.
BFA 4th year Tariqul Islam has shown people of different professions in his oil painting like a man selling vegetables at a local bazaar. The painting reminds the visitors of their neighbourhood bazaar.
Saikat Sarkar, a BFA 2nd year student, in his watercolour painting depicts the eternal truth that nothing is everlasting. The painting shows a broken car which must have been a very beautiful car once.
The exhibition, which began on Monday, will remain open for all form 11am to 8pm till Saturday.
