The National Board of Revenue collected Tk 1,157.19 crore in income tax in four days of the weeklong income tax fair that began across the country on November 1.
A total of 90,913 taxpayers filed their income tax returns and paid income tax at the fair venues in four days.
The amount of tax receipt was Tk 1,096.61 crore from 77,118 taxpayers in the same period in the last year’s fair.
On Friday, 29,306 taxpayers paid Tk 205 crore in income tax with filing tax returns at the fair venues including the NBR’s under-construction headquarters at Agargaon, the fair venue for Dhaka.
The fair drew huge crowd on Friday as the day was a weekly holiday.
Taxpayers mainly professionals and service holders thronged the fair venues across the country on the day.
A total of 1,56,583 people visited the fair at 72 spots including 61 district headquarters and 11 upazilas on the day raising the numbers of total visitors to 4.82 lakh in four days.
Some 22,326 people obtained fresh online taxpayers identification numbers in four days in the fair.
Taxmen also distributed user ID and password to 1,538 taxpayers for getting access to online income tax returns submission system and provided services including distribution of application forms for password to more than 5,000 taxpayers.
The fair remains open from 10:00am to 5:00pm today.
