BCL men beat up each other over seating on IU bus

The activists of ruling party-backed Bangladesh Chhatra League Islamic University unit allegedly beat up their fellows in Kushtia town over seating on the university bus. 

Witnesses said that a group of activists, led by law and Muslim jurisprudence department final-year student Shahadat Hossain Nishan, locked into an altercation with Mohammad Shohel, a third-year student of statistics department, over the issue on Thursday night.

Nishan is a supporter of BCL IU unit secretary Jewel Rana Halim while Shohel is a follower of BCL IU unit former joint-secretary Anichur Rahman. 

At one stage of the altercation, Nishan and his fellows beat up Shohel inside the bus at Majumpur Bazar area around 7:45pm.

Later, Shohel informed the matter to his associates and they beat up Nishan and his fellows at Lakshmipur Bazar.

Mizanur Rahman, one of the fellows of Nishan, later filed a case against eight people including two university students and six outsiders in this regard, said Raton Sheikh, the officer-in-charge of IU police station.

Police arrested one person in this connection, he added.
