Chittagong city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Tuesday said mitigating the water-logging crisis of the city is not an easy task.
‘It is not so easy to alleviate the water-logging crisis. It will not work if anyone thinks from the outside that the work is very simple,’ he said.
The CCC mayor made the remarks while talking to reporters at his office marking his completion of two years in office.
Responding to a query, Nasir said he has not failed in discharging his duties. ‘I am yet to complete my tenure. I have still three years in my hand. I am still playing. You cannot call me a failure before the end of the game.’
Mentioning that the city dwellers have also the responsibility to mitigate the water-logging along the city corporation, he said no one will be able to improve the situation if the rivers and canals are filled and grabbed.
Talking about his efforts to end the water-logging, the CCC mayor said the city corporation excavates canals only to be refilled again.
He also admitted that they have no planned drainage and sewerage system.
