Another Sitakunda measles-affected child dies in CMCH

Another child, who was suffering from measles at hilly Tripurapara in Sitakunda upazila, died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Nipa Tripira, 3, daughter of Sova Toron Tripura of Bogla Bazar in Sonaichari union of the upazila.
Nipa, who was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the CMCH, breathed her last around 1:30pm, Chittagong civil surgeon Azizur Rahman Siddiqui told the news agency.
With this, 10 children have reportedly died of the measles.
Earlier, nine children died of a mysterious disease in four days till July 12.
On July 17, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research declared that they were suffering from measles.
After examining the symptoms of the patients and laboratory test of the samples, the IEDCR confirmed that the children of Tripurapara were affected from measles virus.
As the children were suffering from malnutrition, the virus spread from one’s body to another quickly.
Over 90 children have been admitted to
the Infectious Diseases Hospital and Chittagong Medical College Hospital with the disease.
Of those, some 26 were undergoing treatment at the Bangladesh
Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease in Fouzdarhat area of Sitakunda and the CMCH while the rest were released.
