Krira Jagat, the national fortnightly sports magazine published by the National Sports Council, celebrated its forty years of publication with a grand programme on Thursday.
Sports writers, journalists, organisers and sports personalities of current and yesteryears gathered at the NSC auditorium to join the colourful programme.
The speakers expressed their hope that Krira Jagat would move on with a new spirit, new enterprise and new vision to take forward country’s sports just as it had been doing over the last four decades.
They also acknowledged Krira Jagat’s role in providing directives and representing country’s sports history and tradition since its inception.
The speakers termed the magazine as the representative of the sports lovers of this country.
State minister for youth and sports and also the chairman of NSC, Sri Biren Sikder, was present in the programme as the chief guest.
Acting secretary of the ministry of youth and sports, Md Asadul Islam, was present as special guest.
Sports secretary of ruling Bangladesh Awami League, Harunur Rashid, and president of Bangladesh Athletics Federation ASM Ali Kabir were present among others.
NSC secretary Ashoke Kumar Biswas presided over the programme and editor of Krira Jagat, Mahmud Hossain Khan Dulal gave the opening speech.
A special issue commemorating the 41st anniversary of the magazine was released featuring articles from as many as 92 writers, journalists, organisers, and sports persons.
Veteran journalist and sportswriter Mohammad Kamruzzaman, Sanaul Haque Khan, Ikrazumman and sponsor Electra International were honoured for their contribution to Krira Jagat since its beginning.
The programme concluded with the cutting of a large cake.
