Names of the seven recipients of Shilpakala Padak 2016 were declared at a press conference held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday.
The recipients are Mita Haque (vocal music), Pabitra Mohon Dey (instrumental music), Golam Mostafa Khan (dance), Kalidas Karmakar (fine arts), Sirajuddin Pathan (folk music) Syed Jamil Ahmed (theatre) and Golam Mostafa (photography).
All of them have made remarkable contribution to various fields of art and culture, said the academy’s director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, who presided over the press conference.
Each of the recipients will receive Tk 1,00,000, a gold medal and certificate.
President M Abdul Hamid will hand over the awards to the recipients at National Theatre Hall tomorrow, he said.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy introduced Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Padak in 2013.
‘A 16-member selection committee chooses seven eminent individuals for their contributions in respective fields which includes vocal music, instrumental music, dance, theatre, fine arts, recitation, photography, jatra, film, folk, cultural research and cultural organisation,’ said Lucky.
Among others, secretary of BSA Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury, director of fine arts department of BSA Maniruzzaman Manir, director of research and publication department of BSA Utpal Kumar Das and director of training department of BSA Shawkat Faruk were present on the occasion.
