Journalist leaders on Tuesday set an ultimatum demanding 9th wage board by July 29 otherwise they will go for a single-point movement from the next day.
‘The information minister will have to take decision about the declaration of wage board by July 29. Otherwise, the journalists will stage a fresh movement from July 30,’ BFUJ president Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul told a demonstration in front of National Press Club in the capital.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists and Dhaka Union of Journalists organised the rally, said a release.
BFUJ secretary general Omar Faruque, its former secretary general Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan, DUJ general secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, Dhaka Reporters’ Unity president Sakhawat Hossain Badsha, BFUJ joint secretary general Amiyo Ghatak Pulok, DRU general secretary Mursalin Nomani and Sub-Editors’ Council general secretary Obaidur Rahman, among others, addressed the programme.
DUJ president Shaban Mahmood chaired the meeting.
