A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to national team cricketer Arafat Sunny in a dowry case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Jakir Hossain Tipu passed the order after Sunny surrendered before the court in the morning seeking bail.
Earlier on Sunday, the court framed charges against Sunny in the dowry case filed by Nasrin Sultana, who claimed to be his wife.
The court also issued arrest warrant as Sunny could not appear before the court as he has been suffering from Chikunguniya.
On April 5, the court granted ad-interim bail to the cricketer.
Nasrin Sultana filed the case against the cricketer and his mother with the Dhaka Women, Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 on February 1 on charge of demanding Tk 20 lakh as dowry on January 23. She also filed another case under the Information and Communication Technology Act.
