President Abdul Hamid on Monday urged all the universities to take necessary steps to ensure quality education in higher studies so that students can cope with world-class competitions.
The president came up with the call when vice-chancellor of the Bangladesh University of Professionals Major General Md Salahuddin Miaji met him at Bangabhaban in the afternoon.
President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university, directed the BUP VC to set up an example of quality education so that the other universities can follow it in near future.
BUP VC Salahuddin Miaji expressed gratitude to the president for providing all-out support to run the institution and apprised him of the overall activities, including recent infrastructural development, outstanding activities and future plan of the university.
He also informed that the BUP will set up ‘Bangabandhu Chair’ to carry out research on different aspects of the life of Bangabandhu and his works.
The BUP VC sought cooperation and direction from the president in running the university activities.
The secretaries concerned to the president were present.
