Photography show portrays nature, life in hill tracts

The natural beauty of Chittagong Hill Tracts region and simplicity of village life in hilly areas are being showcased at a three-day photography exhibition, which commenced at the capital’s Drik Gallery on Sunday.
A total of 100 photographs by 44 leading and promising photographers are being displayed at the event.
The photographs portray everyday life of the people living in the hill tracts region like mother carrying her baby on her back, villagers selling fresh vegetables and fruits at an open market, people smoking tobacco in handmade pipes, children going to schools and others.
Photographer Tausif Mannan’s Beauty of Nature is an eye-catching photograph on display. The photograph shows countless birds skimming low over the surface of a vast lake with azure coloured water.
Photographer Pranesh Chakma has captured sunset in the hilly region in his work titled ‘Sunset in Bandarban’.
Prasinjit Kabil Chakma has portrayed the daily life of the people living in the hilly region in his displayed photo of an open market where women are seen selling fresh vegetables and fruits, while the displayed untitled photograph by Nidal Adnan at the exhibition shows a mother carrying her child on her back, a common sight in the hilly region.
A number of photographs showing various programmes held in the hilly districts by the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs are also being displayed at the event.
Bangladesh Adventure Club has organised the photo show marking the 19th founding anniversary of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs.
Cultural affairs minister Asuaduzzaman Noor inagurated the exhibition, which will remain open for all from 3:00pm to 8:00pm till today.
