Local theatre troupe Swapnadal staged its latest monodrama Helen Keller, which depicts the life and struggle of late American author-activist Helen Keller, at Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday.
Written by Apurba Kumar Kundu and directed by Zahid Repon, the play was staged marking the 136th birth anniversary of Helen.
Hellen Keller was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was influenced by Rabindranath Tagore, Charlie Chaplin, Mark Twain, Kennedy, Einstein’s philosophy.
She spoke about women’s empowerment, protested at racism and other issues responsible for human suffering.
Juyena Shabnam acted as Helen Keller in the play.
