The students of Jagannath University on Monday staged demonstrations on the campus, boycotting classes and examinations for recovering Sadekul Islam Milon, a third-year student of Physics department of the university, who went missing since May 23 from Mohammadpur area in the capital.

The agitating students of physics department locked the gates of the department around 9:00am.  No class or examination was held.

Around 11:00am, the agitators locked the main entrance of the university with chanting various slogans in favour of the movement to press home their demand.

They blamed the law enforcers for not investigating the matter properly.

They also alleged that the university authorities were yet to take any effective step to find out Milon as much as needed.

The concerns were rising by the day as no credible information was available about the whereabouts of Milon, they said.

The agitators would continue their movement until they got their fellow Milon, they added.

They urged the concerned authorities to accelerate the activities of the members of law enforcing agencies for the quest of their missing fellow.

University proctor Noor Muhammad said, ‘The university authorities have written a letter to the high-up officials of the police regarding the matter.’
